Senior.NET Developer to take over Head of Tech role in 3 years time
We are partnering with an established organisation whose technology sits at the centre of what they deliver to thousands of customers. The Head of Technology has built the platform over many years and is now, for the first time, hiring with succession in mind. That changes the nature of this role considerably.
Membership is growing. Financial targets have been hit for three consecutive months. The digital product — a progressive web app used by around 500 people a day, with over a million records logged — is expanding its feature set. A training portal rebuild is also underway. There is real work here, not maintenance.
The Role
This is a .NET Core and React role sitting in a small, close-knit development team. The honest pitch is this: the Head of Technology wants to find the developer who, over the next three to five years, is capable of taking his role from him. Not immediately. Not with a title change on day one. But someone with the ambition, the technical depth and the right temperament to grow into it gradually.

The work is roughly 65% backend, 35% frontend. The team uses AI tooling actively — Claude is embedded into the development workflow — and there is a genuine expectation that whoever joins will embrace that rather than resist it.
What You Will Do
- Build new features across a high-traffic progressive web app on.NET Core and React
- Contribute to a training portal rebuild alongside a senior colleague
- Work with Cosmos DB in Azure across a NoSQL backend
- Mentor a mid-level developer and take ownership of technical decisions within your work
- Operate across multiple projects as priorities shift — context-switching is part of the job here

What You Will Bring
- Strong.NET Core development, server-side and API work
- Comfortable with React at the frontend — not necessarily expert, but capable
- Familiarity with Azure and NoSQL databases (Cosmos DB experience a bonus)
- A practical attitude towards AI-assisted development
- Ambition for broader technical leadership over time — and the patience to earn it properly
