This is a hands-on engineering role, not a traditional network operations position.
You'll be building the platforms, APIs and automation frameworks that define how network infrastructure is deployed and managed. You'll have the opportunity to influence architecture, engineering standards and automation strategy while working on complex networking challenges at enterprise scale.
If you're a Python engineer who understands networks, or a network engineer who thinks in code, this role offers the opportunity to build the next generation of network automation capabilities.
Role Description:
Are you passionate about automating complex network environments and eliminating operational toil through engineering excellence?
We're seeking a Senior Network Automation Engineer / Software Developer to help drive the evolution of our global network automation capabilities. This is an opportunity to work at scale, designing and building automation platforms, APIs, and orchestration solutions that power critical enterprise network services.
You'll combine deep networking expertise with modern software engineering practices to deliver infrastructure through code, automate operational processes, and influence the future direction of network automation across a highly complex environment.
As a senior member of the team, you will lead the design and development of automation solutions that improve how networks are deployed, managed, monitored, and maintained.
You'll work at the intersection of Networking, Software Engineering, DevOps, and Infrastructure Automation, partnering with architects, software developers, DevOps engineers, and network specialists to create scalable, resilient, and highly automated solutions.
Responsibilities:
Network Automation & Service Development
- Design and develop automation solutions for enterprise network provisioning, configuration management and lifecycle operations.
- Build and maintain Python-based services, APIs and microservices that support network service delivery and operational workflows.
- Develop reusable automation frameworks and service templates that enable consistent infrastructure deployment at scale.
- Engineer solutions that integrate with network controllers, orchestration platforms and management systems.
- Design and implement automation workflows across routing, switching and data centre environments.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
