Senior Network Engineer, North East based
We are looking for an experienced and customer-focused Senior Network Engineer to join our Professional Services team. This is a hands-on delivery role where you will play a key part in delivering high-quality network solutions across a broad range of customer projects and programmes.
You will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle, including discovery, design, implementation, troubleshooting, and technical assurance. The role requires strong multi-vendor networking expertise and the ability to work effectively within customer environments, both remotely and on-site.
Working closely with Project Managers, Programme Leads, Managed Services, and wider technical teams, you will help deliver robust, scalable, and secure network solutions for enterprise customers across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver enterprise network solutions across multiple customer projects and programmes
- Support technical discovery workshops to understand customer requirements and existing environments
- Contribute to and produce high-level and low-level network designs
- Lead and execute implementation activities remotely and on customer sites
- Troubleshoot complex network and firewall issues across multi-vendor environments
- Provide technical assurance during key delivery milestones including migrations, transitions, and go-lives
- Work closely with Project Managers and Programme Leads to ensure successful project delivery
- Collaborate with internal teams including Microsoft Practice, Managed Services, and Service Transition
- Support documentation, knowledge transfer, and handover activities into support teams
- Assist with pre-sales activities and solution shaping where required

Skills & Experience
Essential
- Strong understanding of enterprise networking technologies including LAN, WAN, and WLAN
- Solid routing and switching knowledge including BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and segmentation
- Understanding of modern network architectures such as VXLAN and EVPN
- Good understanding of network security principles and firewall technologies
- Hands-on experience implementing and troubleshooting multi-vendor network environments
- Ability to work from and contribute to HLDs and LLDs
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills in live customer environments
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proven experience delivering network solutions within a Professional Services or project delivery environment
- Strong hands-on experience with at least two of the following vendors:
- Juniper Networks
- Cisco Systems
- Palo Alto Networks
- Hewlett Packard Enterprise (Aruba)
- Cato Networks
Desirable
- Experience with data centre networking and fabric-based solutions
- Understanding of cloud networking and hybrid connectivity models
- Familiarity with NAC technologies such as Aruba ClearPass
- Awareness of SASE and cloud-delivered networking solutions
- Experience supporting pre-sales and solution design activities
- Experience delivering large-scale or multi-site transformation projects
- Relevant certifications such as CCNP, JNCIS/JNCIP, PCNSE, or Aruba certifications
- Experience working in secure or regulated environments including defence, government, or nuclear sectors

Additional Requirements
- Willingness to travel regularly across the UK
- Ability to support occasional out-of-hours delivery activities including migrations and go-lives
- Full UK driving licence
- Eligible to work in the UK
- Willingness to undergo and maintain security clearance where required
Desirable
- Active UK Security Clearance (SC or above)
- Flexibility to travel at short notice based on project requirements
- Experience supporting critical delivery phases and extended-hours activities
