Senior Network Engineer

We're working with an organisation at the forefront of secure digital technology to recruit an experienced Network Engineer.
This is an outstanding opportunity to join a collaborative engineering team delivering resilient, cloud-native platforms that support highly secure, mission-critical environments. You'll work on complex networking challenges, helping to build, maintain and optimise infrastructure where reliability, performance and security are paramount.
The Opportunity
As a Network Engineer, you'll play a key role in supporting modern cloud infrastructure, combining traditional networking principles with software-defined networking technologies across Kubernetes platforms.
Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll help deliver secure, scalable networking solutions, automate operational processes and continuously improve the resilience and performance of critical infrastructure. This position also includes participation in an on-call rota to support the rapid resolution of operational issues.
Key Responsibilities
You'll contribute to the success of secure cloud platforms by:
- Supporting the implementation, maintenance and optimisation of secure network infrastructure.
- Configuring and troubleshooting networking across Kubernetes-based environments.
- Maintaining secure communication between distributed clusters within highly secure environments.
- Driving improvements through automation, helping to enhance scalability, resilience and operational efficiency.
- Monitoring, maintaining and optimising network performance across cloud-hosted platforms.
- Collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver secure and reliable infrastructure solutions.
- Participating in incident response and providing out-of-hours support as part of an on-call rotation.

About You
We're looking for a technically capable Network Engineer who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges and thrives within collaborative engineering teams.
You'll also have:
- Experience supporting, implementing and troubleshooting secure enterprise network environments.
- 3–5 years' experience working with IP networking, multi-tenant WANs, Layer 2–7 networking technologies and Border Gateway Protocol (BGP).
- Experience administering Linux environments and/or Kubernetes platforms.
- Practical knowledge of cloud-native networking technologies, including CNI solutions such as Cilium and Service Mesh technologies such as Istio.
- Experience working with MPLS Layer 3 VPNs or cloud-native data plane networking.
- Hands-on experience deploying and supporting production Kubernetes workloads.
- Experience using infrastructure automation tools such as Git, Bash or Python to streamline deployment and operational processes.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills.
- A proactive approach with a genuine interest in continuous improvement, innovation and emerging technologies.
