Senior Network Engineer (SonicWall Migration)

Location: Hampshire (Hybrid)
Rate: Outside IR35, competitive based on experience
Contract: Initial 2 Months
Immediate Start

We are looking for an experienced Senior Network Engineer to lead a business-critical network infrastructure relocation and SonicWall firewall migration project.

This is a hands-on delivery role requiring proven experience with SonicWall firewalls, VPN configuration, routing, switching and network cutovers. The successful consultant will take ownership of migrating an existing SonicWall NSa 2700 to a new NSa 2800, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the discovery, design and delivery of the network migration.
  • Review and document the existing firewall, routing, VLAN, NAT, DHCP and VPN environment.
  • Configure and migrate an existing SonicWall NSa 2700 to a SonicWall NSa 2800.
  • Configure and validate site-to-site VPN connectivity between offices, Azure and third-party environments.
  • Migrate and support SSL VPN remote access services for approximately 150-180 users.
  • Configure firewall policies, security rules, routing, NAT and DNS settings.
  • Build and test the new environment alongside the existing infrastructure.
  • Produce migration plans, testing procedures and rollback documentation.
  • Lead the network cutover and troubleshoot firewall, VPN and connectivity issues.
  • Provide post-migration support and technical handover.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with SonicWall firewalls, ideally NSa appliances.
  • Proven experience delivering SonicWall firewall migrations, upgrades or replacements.
  • Extensive experience configuring and troubleshooting:
    • Site-to-Site VPNs
    • IPSec VPNs
    • SSL VPNs / NetExtender
  • Strong understanding of routing, switching, VLANs, NAT, DHCP and DNS.
  • Experience connecting on-premise environments into Microsoft Azure.
  • Previous experience delivering network relocation, migration or infrastructure cutover projects.
  • Ability to independently plan, configure, test and implement network changes.
  • Strong technical documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
