Job Title: Senior Network & Security Engineer

Location: Cardiff – Hybrid

Salary: Up to £45,000

The Opportunity

Are you a senior network and security engineer looking for a role where you can design, deliver and lead genuinely complex technology projects?

We are looking for an experienced Senior Network & Security Engineer to join a Professional Services team and take a leading technical role in delivering enterprise and strategic customer solutions across the UK.

This is far more than a traditional engineering position. You’ll be trusted to take ownership of complex projects from initial discovery and technical design right through to implementation, migration, testing and operational handover.

You’ll work extensively with Fortinet technologies and Secure SD-WAN, while also drawing on your wider networking and security expertise to solve challenging customer environments.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll take ownership of the technical delivery of high-profile customer projects, including complex multi-site deployments and migrations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the design, deployment and migration of Fortinet solutions and Secure SD-WAN.
  • Taking projects from technical discovery and requirements gathering through to implementation, testing and handover.
  • Leading customer workshops, technical discovery sessions, design reviews and implementation planning meetings.
  • Producing and reviewing high-quality Low-Level Designs (LLDs), implementation plans, Methods of Procedure (MoPs), test plans, as-built documentation and handover packs.
  • Providing technical assurance throughout the project lifecycle, identifying risks, dependencies, rollback requirements and appropriate mitigations.
  • Acting as the senior escalation point for complex technical issues across firewalls, routing, switching, VPNs, wireless and cloud connectivity.
  • Troubleshooting challenging production environments and taking ownership when implementations don't go according to plan.
  • Supporting and developing other engineers through mentoring, coaching, peer reviews and knowledge sharing.
  • Helping establish and improve engineering standards, reusable templates, reference configurations, automation and best practice.
  • Supporting presales activity through technical scoping, solution validation, effort estimation and delivery risk assessment.
  • Building trusted relationships with senior customer stakeholders, partners and technology vendors.
  • Leading testing and customer acceptance before ensuring a smooth transition into Managed Services.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
