Senior Systems Networking Engineer
Ringwood, Hampshire | Hybrid Working
Up to £55,000
Are you an experienced Network Engineer who enjoys designing solutions as much as troubleshooting them?
We're working with a well-established technology services business in Ringwood that is looking to add an experienced Senior Network Engineer to its technical team.
This is not simply a support position. You'll be involved throughout the lifecycle of customer infrastructure, from understanding technical requirements and designing the solution through to implementation, documentation, optimisation and ongoing technical improvement.
You'll work across varied enterprise environments and take ownership of complex networking challenges while contributing to larger infrastructure and transformation projects.
What you'll be doing
You'll design, implement and improve secure network solutions across customer environments, working with technologies spanning LAN/WAN, routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs and wireless networking.
- Investigate complex infrastructure problems, identify root causes and implement robust solutions rather than temporary fixes.
- Design and deliver enterprise network infrastructure.
- Configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs and wireless environments.
- Work with routing technologies including BGP, OSPF and EIGRP.
- Support complex LAN/WAN and multi-site environments.
- Integrate networking with cloud platforms, including Microsoft Azure.
- Work with Azure networking technologies such as VNets, VPN gateways and load balancing.
- Apply network security principles including IDS/IPS, NAC, SSL/TLS and Zero Trust.
- Produce clear high-level and low-level technical designs.
- Work closely with customers and internal technical teams to understand requirements and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Support major technical incidents and troubleshoot difficult infrastructure problems.
- Identify opportunities to improve performance, resilience, security and maintainability.
- Contribute to preventative maintenance and ongoing service improvement.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
