Company Overview
Our client is a specialist engineering and manufacturing business designing and producing complex, heavy-duty mechanical equipment for demanding applications.
The company operates in a highly technical, project-led environment, developing specialist engineered products from initial concept and design through to manufacture, testing, and delivery.
They are looking for an experienced Senior New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer to take ownership of introducing new products into manufacture and ensure designs, processes, documentation, and production methods are ready for successful release.
The Role
You'll be responsible for leading and coordinating the introduction of new products into manufacture, working across the complete journey from initial engineering design through prototype and pilot production to full production release.
This is a hands-on engineering role requiring a strong understanding of both product design and manufacturing, ensuring new products can be produced safely, efficiently, cost-effectively, and to the required quality standards.
You'll work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, and suppliers, identifying potential production issues early and driving them through to resolution.
The position will suit an experienced NPI or Manufacturing Engineer who enjoys taking ownership and being closely involved with both the engineering and production sides of a product.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate New Product Introduction activities from initial design through to production release.
- Ensure new product designs are production-ready and suitable for efficient manufacture.
- Create and review 3D models and 2D engineering drawings.
- Select appropriate materials and components based on cost, durability, and functionality.
- Conduct tolerance analysis to ensure correct component fit and assembly.
- Support the development and manufacture of early prototypes.
- Evaluate prototypes for form, fit, function, safety, and durability.
- Coordinate digital and physical testing of new products.
- Refine designs following test failures, manufacturing issues, or performance concerns.
- Lead Design for Manufacture (DFM) activities.
- Work with production teams to develop tooling, fixtures, and assembly processes.
- Support the development of manufacturing and assembly methods for new products.
- Produce technical documentation, assembly instructions, and process specifications.
- Ensure products meet relevant legal, environmental, safety, and industry requirements.
- Lead root-cause investigations into initial production defects and implement corrective actions.
- Manage pilot production builds before full production release.
- Maintain effective control of engineering specifications, documentation, processes, and design changes.
- Identify opportunities to improve product quality, manufacturing efficiency, cost, and delivery.
What We're Looking For
- Degree or comparable qualification/accreditation within Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Previous experience as an NPI Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Production Engineer, or similar.
- Strong experience taking new products from engineering/design into manufacture.
- Good understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing drawings.
- Experience with 3D CAD and 2D engineering drawings.
- Strong understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles.
- Experience with prototypes, pilot builds, and production launches.
- Knowledge of tolerance analysis, component fit, and assembly.
- Experience developing manufacturing processes, tooling, or assembly methods.
- Strong understanding of engineering materials and component selection.
- Experience investigating production defects and conducting root-cause analysis.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing quality and production-readiness requirements.
- Ability to balance quality, cost, delivery, and manufacturability.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, and suppliers.
- Strong project-management skills with the ability to manage multiple NPI activities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proactive, practical, and comfortable taking ownership of technical and manufacturing problems.
- Strong continuous-improvement mindset.

The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced NPI or Manufacturing Engineer looking to take a senior position within a specialist engineering and heavy-equipment manufacturing environment.
You'll have significant ownership over how new products move from engineering concept into production, working directly with design, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure products are ready for efficient and reliable manufacture.
