Role Description
The Senior Nurse is a full-time, on-site role based in Glasgow City, responsible for providing advanced clinical nursing care and leadership within the designated unit or department. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating person-centered care
- Supervising and supporting nursing and healthcare staff
- Ensuring adherence to clinical standards, policies, and regulatory requirements
- Coordinating patient flow
- Managing complex cases
- Working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe and effective care

The role involves:

- Mentoring and coaching less experienced staff
- Participating in audits and quality improvement initiatives
- Contributing to service development
- Maintaining accurate documentation
- Overseeing infection prevention and control practices
- Promoting a culture of safety, dignity, and respect
Qualifications
- Active nursing registration with the appropriate regulatory body (e.g., NMC) and eligibility to practice in the UK.
- Minimum experience of working in a care home of 4 years.
- Experience in working in a digital care system and updating care plans.
- Experience working in medication administration and EMAR.
- Significant post-registration experience in an acute, community, or specialist setting, with evidence of progressive responsibility.
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in assessment, care planning, and delivery for a diverse patient population, including complex cases.
- Proven leadership abilities, including staff supervision, delegation, mentoring, and participation in performance and development reviews.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and engage with patients, families, and carers.
- Experience in quality improvement, clinical audit, and implementation of evidence-based guidelines and best practices.
- Sound understanding of safeguarding, infection prevention and control, health and safety, and risk management in clinical environments.
- Competence in using electronic health records and basic digital tools to document care, manage data, and support service delivery.
- Relevant postgraduate qualification, specialist training, or certification in an area of practice is desirable.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development, reflective practice, and participation in education and training activities.
