Job Opportunity for Senior Nurse Practitioner (NMP Qualified)
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Nurse Practitioner (NMP qualified) to join the new Shared Care Protocol (SCP) Response Team pilot across South & Central West Manchester Community Services.
About the Role
The SCP Response Team is developing a safe, standardised, and sustainable process for transferring, monitoring, and providing clinical oversight for patients prescribed long-term mental health medication under SCP arrangements between secondary mental health services and primary care.
The team will act as a single point of contact for GPs, provide specialist oversight for stable patients, facilitate annual mental and physical health reviews, and support patient groups who experience difficulties accessing ongoing prescribing services.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake screenings, assessments, review clinics, medication reviews, and physical health monitoring.
- Deliver evidence-based pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions and provide specialist clinical advice.
- Work collaboratively with service users, carers, families, and partner agencies, and liaise closely with primary care to ensure effective outcomes.
- Mentor and supervise registered and unregistered staff and students.
- Support service development through the effective collection and analysis of audit, research, and performance data.

Required Experience
- Experienced Senior Nurse Practitioner and Non-Medical Prescriber with a proven track record of leading multidisciplinary teams, students, and support staff to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care.
- Provides clinical leadership in risk assessment, mental health assessment, therapeutic interventions, and home treatment pathways.
- Experienced in recruitment, complaints management, serious incident investigations, report writing, and deputising for senior managers.
- Skilled in managing complex caseloads and delivering specialist interventions for adults with severe mental illness, including assessment, treatment reviews, and prescribing antipsychotic and lithium medication.
- Provides expert consultation to internal and external services and works collaboratively with primary care, acute services, and partner agencies to promote recovery-focused care.
- Committed to service improvement through audit, quality improvement, research, and policy development.
- Experienced in producing reports for senior leaders, reviewing Standard Operating Procedures, and contributing to service development.
- Delivers training, supervision, and mentorship to staff, students, GPs, and partner agencies, supporting workforce development and professional practice.
- Maintains high standards through continuous professional development, clinical supervision, and appraisal, demonstrating strong leadership, innovation, and a commitment to positive outcomes, social inclusion, and recovery-focused practice.
