Job Description
About the Role
The purpose of this post is to provide a high standard of Occupational Therapy service undertaking all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as part of a defined team of therapy staff at the Neuro Rehabilitation centre at Goole and district hospital.
- Provide Occupational Therapy input for patients admitted for sub-acute rehabilitation following neurological injury/illness and for those requiring complex rehabilitation.
- Support individuals to reach their maximum potential and to support them with a safe discharge as part of a wider MDT.
- Provide a range of interventions to aid rehabilitation, maintenance, and long term management, using occupational therapy core skills, looking at activities of daily living, role, and routine.
- Provide active rehabilitation, assistive devices, and assessment for referral on for major adaptations where there is identified need.
- Perform advanced Occupational Therapy assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions.
- Use advanced clinical reasoning skills to provide a diagnosis and to develop and deliver an individualized treatment programme.
- Manage own caseload and a defined area of the service, working without direct supervision.
- Supervise, educate, and assess students, assistants, and Band 5 staff and provide specialized advice to other healthcare professionals in the specific clinical area.
- Undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to further develop own clinical practice and development of the service area.
- Make recommendations on changes to practice to the clinical lead/manager. May lead the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to development of service protocols.
