An opportunity has arisen to join the General Rotation Occupational Therapy team, our friendly department is full of opportunity for a dynamic, enthusiastic Occupational therapist who wishes to develop a range of clinical expertise within the fields of Specialist Medicine, Neuro, Respiratory, Private Patients, Trauma & Orthopedics, Vascular, OPAL, and Oncology.

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist, with a keen interest in Acute services and a wide range of clinical experience, good communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a passion for delivering excellent patient-centred care. You will have the opportunity to develop your specialist skills and knowledge in the above areas. You will have excellent support from senior therapists and work closely with the well-established multi-disciplinary teams. Alongside the clinical case load you will have the responsibilities of supervising junior and student Occupational therapists, you will be involved in teaching of more staff and support on in-service trainings. We offer a comprehensive in-service training and induction programme, Internal and external courses are supported, and opportunities for postgraduate study exist. Our established appraisal system facilitates career development and progression.

Key Responsibilities

• To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including management of patients in your care.
• To undertake a comprehensive assessment and re-assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentation for a designated caseload to establish clients' physical, cognitive, perceptual, psychological, and social functioning.
• To communicate effectively, using a range of verbal and non-verbal skills, with patients and carers/family to motivate, engage, and participate in therapy and to ensure an understanding of their condition.
• To deal sensitively and constructively with patients and carers/family, who have high levels of anxiety, frustration, or aggression caused by a variety of issues, such as pain, poor prognosis, or limited mobility.
• To plan and prioritize own caseload independently on a day-to-day basis to ensure patients are appropriately seen, in conjunction with the priorities of the team and to give assistance to other team members as required.
• To play an active part in and at times lead the service development projects being undertaken by the service or the MDT.
• To assist in the induction, daily supervision, and delegation of tasks to band 5 occupational therapists, therapy support workers, students, and administrative staff, as required.
