SENIOR OFFICER
Based in the NEU London Regional Office (WC1H 9BD)
Permanent, full-time
Commencing salary £66,030 per annum

Role Overview
We are now seeking to recruit a Senior Officer on a permanent, full-time basis to join our team in the NEU London region. This is an exciting opportunity to be a crucial part of the regional management team of the National Education Union. The successful candidate will contribute to the strength of the Union and to the Union’s priorities for supporting, engaging, and empowering members.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Coordination: As a member of the regional management team and working to the Regional Secretary, you will contribute to the strength of the Union and to the Union’s priorities for supporting, engaging, and involving members. You will lead in the coordination of Initial Teacher Training (ITT) and field recruitment across the region, the planning of national training programs, region-wide events and campaign events, and the planning of democratic services including Regional Council, District and Branch Secretaries meetings, and TUC meetings.
- Team Management: You will also manage a small team of Organising Assistants and district officers.

Requirements
- Knowledge and Skills: To be successful in this role, applicants will need to have solid knowledge of trade union organizing and employment practices. You will also be able to develop a good understanding of the NEU’s political, educational, and legal context, and confidently represent the Union to a range of different audiences.

Working Conditions
Prospective applicants are also advised that your normal place of work will be the NEU office in London and that the NEU operates ‘Blended Working Arrangements’ for office-based staff, which means you will typically need to be based in the designated NEU office for 3-4 days a week (based on a full-time contract), with the remaining days based at home, subject to business needs.
Benefits
In addition to salary, we offer good conditions including 35 days annual leave plus Christmas closure days and a defined benefit pension scheme. Salary and benefits are pro-rata for part-time applicants.
