Performance Marketing Manager / Senior
Bolton (Hybrid, 3 days on site)
£60,000
Forward Role are proud to be working with a well-known, long-established B2B organisation to find an experienced, technically strong Performance Marketing Manager to lead performance across paid search, SEO and social - both paid and organic.
This isn't a role for a single-channel specialist. My client needs someone who understands how search, organic and social affect each other - how paid activity supports organic demand, how social creates demand that search later captures, and how to judge performance across the whole mix rather than one channel in isolation. You'll help shape the strategy and make sure it's delivered, equally comfortable presenting a recommendation to senior leaders as you are going into an ad account and questioning a bidding decision.
You'll manage a mix of specialist external partners and an in-house team, so this role needs real technical depth alongside the leadership skills to get the best out of both.
Key Responsibilities
- Own performance across paid search, SEO, paid social and organic social, managing budgets and channel mix against agreed cost-per-lead and ROAS targets
- Understand and measure the halo effect between channels, including how paid activity affects organic, brand and direct demand
- Set clear scopes, targets and expectations for PPC, paid social and SEO partners - going into the accounts yourself to review structure, bidding, audiences, keywords and creative, rather than taking recommendations at face value
- Hold partners to account for delivery, performance and value for money, and make sure their knowledge builds up inside the business over time
- Line-manage SEO Technical, SEO Content and Organic Social specialists, setting clear objectives and coaching regularly
- Turn agency strategic advice into a prioritised roadmap the in-house team owns and delivers
- Work closely with Campaign & CRM Marketing and Customer & Digital Product teams to support wider campaigns, landing pages and the onsite journey
- Help shape performance marketing strategy with the Head of Performance Marketing, and turn data into clear insight and recommendations for senior leaders
- Present trade-offs honestly - volume against margin, short term against long term, paid against organic
- Stay ahead of platform changes, AI-driven search and automation, testing new ideas quickly and scaling what works
- Work hands-on in Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, GA4 and SEO tools, and ensure tracking, attribution and conversion data are accurate and trusted

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
