Senior Operational Risk Oversight Manager – Technology Operations & Planning
We are seeking a Senior Operational Risk Oversight Manager – Technology Operations and Planning to join our Second Line of Defence team.
About the Role
The successful candidate will:
- Lead and coordinate a team of technical risk specialists
- Ensure high-quality oversight of operational risk across Technology, Cyber, and Data
- Play a crucial role in maintaining the resilience of digital services, strengthening defences, and safeguarding members’ data
- Enable Nationwide to deliver secure and resilient operations for members
As part of our independent Second Line Operational Risk Oversight function, this role will focus on protecting the Society’s systems, information, and processes, ensuring non-financial risks are managed effectively.

Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Lead a pooled team of technical risk specialists
- Set clear direction, priorities, and resource allocation for the team
- Ensure outputs meet the high standards required for risk reporting to senior management and risk committees
- Act as a delegate for the Head of Operational Risk Oversight (Technology, Cyber, and Data) when required
- Collaborate directly with the Director of Operational Risk to provide timely reporting on team activities and independent risk perspectives
- Drive continuous improvement in identifying, assessing, and challenging key technology and operational resilience risks
- Enhance resource allocation and planning processes to focus specialists on high-impact risks
- Foster a strong risk culture aligned with Nationwide’s strategic objectives

Work Environment & Flexibility
- Hybrid working is available wherever possible, with a blend of in-office collaboration and home working
- For this role, you’ll spend:
- At least two days per week on-site (in London or Swindon)
- 40% of work time (if part-time) at a stated nearest office location (e.g., weekly attendance in Glasgow)
