Operational Tax Manager

A highly regarded investment organisation is seeking an experienced Operational Tax Manager to join its tax function and play a key role in the oversight and delivery of operational and overseas tax matters across a diverse investment portfolio.

About the Role

Working as part of a small but highly visible tax team, you will partner with investment, operations, finance, and risk stakeholders to ensure effective management of withholding tax processes, overseas tax compliance, and operational tax risk. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional who enjoys combining technical expertise with stakeholder management, process improvement, and team leadership.

Your New Role

Reporting to the Head of Tax, you will take ownership of a broad range of operational tax activities, supported by a Tax Associate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and optimising global withholding tax (WHT) positions, including relief-at-source opportunities and tax reclaims.
  • Managing relationships with custodians, administrators, brokers, and external tax advisors to ensure efficient tax operations.
  • Overseeing overseas tax return processes and ensuring compliance with international tax obligations.
  • Reviewing deliverables from third-party providers and challenging performance where required.
  • Ensuring the accurate application of treaty rates and resolving tax discrepancies across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Supporting compliance with FATCA, CRS, and other tax reporting regimes.
  • Providing operational tax support on fund investments, structural changes, and the taxation of financial instruments.
  • Assisting with withholding tax considerations and fund structures across private markets where required.
  • Identifying and mitigating operational tax risks while driving continuous process improvements.
  • Acting as a key point of contact across investment, operations, finance, and risk teams to resolve tax issues and advance tax work streams.
  • Managing, developing, and coaching a Tax Associate.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
