Fitch Ratings is currently seeking a Senior Operations Associate to join our Operational Risk Management team in Manchester.

About the Team

The Operational Risk Management team helps Fitch Ratings identify, assess, and manage operational risks. We work with teams across the organisation to provide clear risk insights, strengthen processes, support investigations, and improve operational resilience.

This role offers broad exposure to operational risk management, risk data analysis, reporting, technology, and process improvement. It would suit a fast learner who asks thoughtful questions, enjoys understanding how things work, and is motivated to keep developing. Prior operational risk experience can be helpful, but it is not required. We are interested in your potential, technical curiosity, and approach to solving problems, and welcome candidates from different educational and professional backgrounds. We'll Count on You To

  • Support recurring operational risk activities, including data collection, data cleaning, analysis and reporting.
  • Support reviews and investigations into incidents, process issues, and other operational risk matters.
  • Coordinate actions across stakeholders and workstreams, track progress, and help resolve issues so the team can meet its commitments.
  • Maintain clear risk and process documentation, organise team knowledge, and improve internal resources, including SharePoint content and structure, so information is accurate, accessible, and useful.
  • Identify practical opportunities to simplify processes, improve data quality, and make better use of technology, automation, and AI.
  • Take on new and varied assignments as team priorities develop, approaching unfamiliar topics with curiosity and sound judgement.

What You Need to Have

  • Strong learning agility and genuine curiosity about how businesses, processes, data, and technology work.
  • Confidence using technology and the ability to learn new systems and tools quickly.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and reliable follow through.
  • Analytical and practical problem-solving skills, with the ability to bring structure to new or complex topics.
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues across different teams and locations.
  • Fluent written and spoken English. Native level English is not required.
  • Integrity, professionalism, and a willingness to take ownership.

What Would Make You Stand Out

  • Experience with data, reporting, operations, project coordination, or process improvement.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Power BI, SharePoint, AI tools, or similar technologies.
  • An interest in risk, operational resilience, emerging technologies, or automation.
  • Examples of learning something new quickly or improving a process, resource, or way of working.
