Location Overview
Join our bustling Bromley office, situated in one of London’s greenest boroughs. Here you’ll find plentiful and easy commuting routes, with central London just 15 minutes away by train.
The Team
We are seeking a Team Lead to manage an eight-person Guarantee Operations team. The role requires practical knowledge and experience of Guarantees and Standby Letters of Credit (SBLCs), together with the ability to support the team, manage complex queries, and maintain consistent client service. The position involves regular communication by email and phone with internal stakeholders and a broad client base.
Role Description
- Lead, support, and provide day-to-day guidance to an eight-person Guarantee Operations team.
- Perform and oversee the review of Guarantee and SBLC wording, issuances, amendments, and closures.
- Act as a point of escalation for complex, sensitive, or exceptional client and operational queries.
- Research, analyse, and respond to client enquiries accurately and within agreed timescales.
- Produce monthly management and client reporting, ensuring service delivery meets current bank and departmental standards.
- Monitor daily controls and escalate issues promptly to the team manager to support timely resolution.
- Work closely with business partners to support the onboarding and servicing of new clients where required.
- Communicate professionally with clients and stakeholders, primarily by email and phone.
- Train new associates and stakeholders on Trade Finance fundamentals, products, and processes.
- Balance operational priorities effectively and take on additional responsibilities as business needs evolve.

What we are looking for
- Someone who can organise their work, adapt to changing priorities, maintain accuracy, and communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge and practical experience of processing Guarantees and SBLCs, including wording reviews.
- Knowledge of the relevant rules and frameworks, including UCP 600, ISP98, and URDG 758.
- Professional proficiency in written and spoken English. Proficiency in another European language, particularly German, would be useful for the role.
- Experience supporting colleagues and building effective working relationships with stakeholders.
- Clear communication, organisation, and time-management skills.
- Attention to detail and a consistent focus on accurate processing and administration.
- The ability to make informed decisions, respond to changing requirements, and manage competing priorities.
- A willingness to learn, develop, and take on additional responsibilities with appropriate support.
- Understanding of basic accounting principles and rules.
- Essential knowledge of Trade Finance products.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- CSDG or CDCS qualification is desirable.
- Project management experience would be advantageous.
