Join a team helping students make the most of their university experience!
At Manchester Metropolitan University, Rise, part of the Careers Service, helps students build skills, confidence and experience alongside their studies.
Through projects, events, awards and other opportunities, Rise supports students to develop the skills employers value, explore their interests and make the most of their time at university.
We're looking for a Senior Operations Coordinator to help our team deliver these opportunities successfully. This is a varied role combining project coordination, relationship-building, communications and service improvement.
You'll work with colleagues across the University to help students access opportunities that support their personal and professional development.
About The Role
No two days are quite the same. You might be coordinating a student event, supporting a communications campaign, helping colleagues improve a process, responding to enquiries or working with academic staff to connect students with Rise opportunities.
You'll Help Us
- Coordinate projects, events and student development activities.
- Keep systems, processes and information up to date.
- Support communications and student engagement activity.
- Build positive working relationships with colleagues across the University.
- Monitor data and feedback to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support the smooth running of financial, procurement and administrative processes.
- Help academic colleagues engage with experiential learning opportunities.
About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people and making things happen. You will be organised, adaptable and comfortable managing a range of activities at the same time. You'll enjoy finding practical solutions, improving ways of working and supporting colleagues to achieve shared goals.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
