About The Role

We are looking to appoint a Senior Operations Lead for our Liveable Places teams outside of London. The role can be based from any WSP Liveable Places offices outside of London, with flexible working allowing for a mix of home and in-office working.

Reporting to the Head of Liveable Places, the Senior Operations Lead is a member of the Liveable Places Senior Leadership Team and is responsible for the management and leadership of the day-to-day operational matters associated with the Liveable Places discipline for all offices outside of London, with responsibility for P&L and budget delivery.

The role is to support the Head of Liveable Places, working closely with the Senior Operations Lead (London), to embed a strong client and project culture around a technically excellent and efficient delivery model, balanced with the need to satisfy client, colleague, and commercial expectations.

As a key member of the Liveable Places Senior Leadership Team, you will be supported by a Regional Operations Lead to ensure the operational excellence of Liveable Places.

Role Expectations

  • Maintain an overview of workload, utilisation, and associated resource requirements, working with team leaders to ensure resources are fully utilised within technical capabilities
  • Promote collaborative working with other teams to ensure efficient resourcing and identify areas where our services / skill sets can be integrated through multi-disciplinary working
  • Interface with GCC, champion UK and India joint working to grow our workload, maintain our competitiveness and access skills
  • Monitor and manage recruitment needs to meet project and budget targets / demands
  • Manage the integration of UK wide best practice (e.g. BMS) and implement operational business improvements
  • Responsible for annual budget preparation and delivery (Revenue, Operating Margin, EBITDA and DSO)
  • Responsible for Liveable Places financial performance / reporting
  • Responsible for accuracy and overview of Liveable Places financial forecasts
  • Responsible for effective commercial governance and Go / No Go opportunity reviews
  • Actively demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety and Wellbeing, with a commitment to a Zero Harm culture
  • Manage and oversee all aspects associated with HSEQ
  • Provide visible leadership and direction for the Liveable Places cost centres with responsibility for training, development, and colleague retention
  • Provide co-ordination across the business to ensure sharing of best practice and innovation
  • Promote technical excellence and Future Ready / innovation, and apply lessons learned from Project Reviews
  • Work with the Head of Liveable Places to develop and implement succession planning and talent management and have an effective interface with HR on all general employee matters

  • Leadership – Demonstrate excellent inter-personal skills with good leadership and management abilities; capable of communicating effectively with all parts of Local Government and the wider WSP business

  • Commercial - Experience of managing a P&L, along with associated financial and commercial business contributions

  • Problem Solving – able to reason logically and apply a systematic process to finding solutions; is proactive in responding to problem
