About The Role
As part of the Port of Grangemouth leadership team, you will lead and coordinate a broad range of operational activities across the container terminal, general cargo, rail, warehousing and distribution. Working closely with the Asset Manager - Grangemouth, you will help deliver safe, efficient and commercially successful operations while building strong relationships with customers, colleagues and port users.

- Ensure operational and administrative processes are followed, using the Terminal Operating System, live plant data and Power BI to support decisions, accurate reporting and revenue capture.
- Monitor productivity and performance across vessel operations, landside activity, stock control, supervisory performance, HMRC-related reporting and health and safety KPIs.
- Drive continuous improvement across operational and administrative processes, identifying practical opportunities to improve safety, service, productivity and cost control.
- Support delivery of revenue and profit growth targets and work with colleagues to identify and secure new business opportunities.
- Build effective senior-level customer relationships, resolve operational issues and support negotiations on rates, KPIs and service levels.
- Lead, motivate and develop the Operations team, supporting employee development, training, attendance, capability and positive employee relations.
- Work collaboratively across departments and maintain constructive relationships with workforce and union representatives.
- Lead by example on health and safety, ensuring risks are managed, safe systems of work are in place and incidents are reported and investigated promptly.
- Oversee compliance relating to security, AEO, customs processes, hazardous goods, contractors, visitors, plant and emergency response arrangements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
