Job Title: Senior Operations Manager
Location: North London
Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum
Role: Permanent – Full Time
Overview
We are recruiting for a Senior Operations Manager to join a highly successful, privately owned business operating one of the largest and most complex sites within its sector.
This Senior Operations Manager opportunity offers responsibility for a substantial operational area generating circa £30 million in annual revenue and leading a team of approximately 50-60 colleagues through a team of supervisors.
The Senior Operations Manager will oversee a fast-paced operation combining the pace of large-format retail with the complexity of a depot and distribution environment. The role is responsible for customer flow, stock availability, yard operations, materials handling, vehicle movements and team performance within a high-volume trading environment.
This is not a sales-driven role. The successful Senior Operations Manager will focus on operational excellence, maintaining high standards, developing teams, improving productivity and ensuring customers receive an exceptional experience.
The business offers genuine autonomy and would suit an ambitious Senior Operations Manager, Operations Manager, Branch Manager or Distribution Manager looking to take on greater scale and responsibility.
Ideal Candidate
- Experience leading large teams within a high-volume retail, depot, wholesale, logistics or distribution environment
- Experience managing through supervisors, team leaders or department managers
- Strong people leadership and performance management capability
- Able to balance operational detail with a wider site overview
- Comfortable operating within a fast-paced, customer-facing environment
- Strong communication and coaching skills
- Ability to make decisions quickly and effectively
- Ambitious and capable of progressing into larger leadership opportunities

Senior Operations Manager Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop and motivate a team of approximately 50-60 colleagues
- Manage through supervisors to drive operational performance and accountability
- Ensure products remain available and operational standards remain high
- Drive customer service and customer throughput across the operation
- Allocate resources effectively to meet changing operational demands
- Lead performance management, coaching and team development
- Maintain high standards of health and safety compliance
- Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks
- Support succession planning and leadership development
- Drive continuous improvement across the operation

Enfield, Barnet, Cheshunt, Waltham Cross, Potters Bar, Borehamwood, Finchley, Watford, Hertford, Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City, St Albans, Harlow, North London and surrounding areas.
