Senior Operations Manager

Contract Type: Permanent

Schedule: Full-Time

Location: Head Office, Newry, Co. Down

Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience

About the Role

National Building Services / Aspen Eco Power are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Senior Operations Manager to oversee our UK, Ireland and Nordic operations.

If you are an experienced Operations Manager, Senior Contracts Manager, Regional Operations Manager, Head of Operations or senior leader within construction, facilities management, building services or renewable energy, we would be particularly interested in hearing from you.

This is a key senior leadership position within an expanding organisation operating across building services, facilities management, property maintenance, construction, fit-out and sustainable energy solutions.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the effective management and development of day-to-day operations across the business, ensuring that projects, contracts, subcontractors and customer commitments are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest possible standard.

The role will provide leadership across a diverse operational environment, covering planned and reactive maintenance, construction and refurbishment, facilities management, energy retrofit and renewable-energy projects. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management, clients, project teams, engineers, trades, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure operational performance continues to support the company's growth objectives.

What will you deliver?

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operational performance of the business from our Head Office (Newry).
  • Oversee operational delivery across facilities management, planned and reactive maintenance, construction, refurbishment, fit-out and energy projects.
  • Provide strong leadership to project managers, supervisors, engineers, trades, administrators and operational teams.
  • Establish clear operational procedures, reporting structures, responsibilities and performance measures.
  • Work closely with senior management on business planning, growth strategy and operational development.
  • Manage and develop relationships with key clients, suppliers, subcontractors and strategic partners.
  • Identify operational risks and implement appropriate mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Drive improvements in productivity, efficiency, quality and customer service.
  • Support the commercial team with tendering, pricing, mobilisation and contract implementation.
  • Ensure projects and services are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation, company procedures and client requirements.
  • Recruit, develop, coach and motivate operational personnel as the business continues to grow.

Who are you?

We are looking for an experienced senior operations professional who combines strong leadership capability with commercial awareness and excellent organisational skills.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Significant senior-level experience in operations management within construction, facilities management, property services, building services, engineering, energy or a related sector.
  • Proven experience managing multiple teams and concurrent projects or contracts.
  • Strong commercial awareness, including experience with budgets, forecasting, cost control and operational performance.
  • Demonstrable experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and external service providers.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery, operational planning and resource management.
  • Experience working directly with clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety requirements within construction, maintenance or facilities environments.

Experience of energy retrofit, renewable technologies, SEAI-funded projects, facilities management or building maintenance would be highly advantageous.
