Job Description

This role will be accountable for ensuring that the Arm database platform is optimised to deliver outstanding performance for Arm, considering both backend data structure and frontend accessibility for end-users. The platform forms the backbone of a seamless flow of information throughout the company, and the need to ensure Arm has a best-in-breed database platform means that this role will be maintaining application databases from different technologies and environments. Ensuring a consistent approach to database management in a multi-supplier environment.

As part of the wider Infrastructure Engineering and Applications team you will work with both our infrastructure teams as well as engineering to ensure we deliver the most performant Database platforms for our engineers to deliver Arm's strategic goals. Depending on the candidate, you may also be called upon to support other performance optimisation activity beyond the database platform.

Responsibilities

  • Lead collaboration with database partners to install, configure, and update database management systems (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL).
  • Implement access controls, manage permissions, and deploy security measures to protect sensitive data.
  • Oversee and optimize a diverse environment including servers, storage solutions, and high-speed networking in conjunction with relevant teams.
  • Understand architectural designs and manage virtual and physical server environments to maximise resource efficiency.
  • Automation of manual or regular process and software license cost optimization.
  • Coordinate with multiple vendors and Arm Engineering groups to deliver database performance optimization, break-fix and database software lifecycle management.
  • Nurture an "Arm on Arm" approach wherever possible, supporting Arm's goal of using Arm based infrastructure to run our business.
  • Predict future data storage needs and plan hardware/software upgrades.
  • Partner with our engineering infrastructure providers to align product roadmaps to ensure Arm's current and future database requirements are delivered by the platform.
  • Provide technical support to developers for operations optimization and resolution of application-related issues.
  • Collaborate with other infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration of Database systems with other systems and applications.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on our internal work concepts, translating engineering requirements into robust infrastructure solutions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
