About Us

Hoare Lea is a human-centric and planet-conscious engineering consultancy. We offer intelligent and sustainable solutions to complex design challenges for the built environment throughout the UK and further afield.

We provide a wide range of engineering and consultancy services, including acoustics, air quality, building services (MEP), fire, lighting, security and sustainability to name but a few. Together, our highly skilled teams use technical expertise and problem-solving skills to bring projects to life. We ensure that whatever the project, its design is outstanding, and it meets and exceeds our clients' requirements.

We are as committed to providing an environment where everyone can realise their unique potential. So, in joining Hoare Lea, you will experience a business that enriches your knowledge, supports your wellbeing, and welcomes your individuality. You’ll have the opportunity to participate in our 9-day fortnight scheme, thriving community groups, varied social and networking events, and extensive professional and technical development schemes. We also offer an extensive benefits package, including private medical cover, an electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme, stock options, and 25 days of annual leave (increasing with service), alongside flexible and hybrid working.

Whatever your ambitions or circumstances, our aim is to enable everyone to develop their knowledge, give their best, and enjoy what they do.

Security

Our security consultancy group provides objective, evidence-based advice and practical design solutions. We do not take a one-size-fits-all approach; instead, we consider the risks, operational requirements and wider context of each project to develop proportionate and effective security strategies.

Security should be integrated into a project from the earliest stages of design rather than treated as an additional requirement. Our dedicated security offering works closely with clients, architects, engineers, contractors and specialist stakeholders to embed security throughout the project lifecycle. We provide support across all stages of the project lifecycle, offering a comprehensive and integrated approach that is aligned with the client's objectives and requirements.

As part of Hoare Lea and the wider Tetra Tech group, we work across a broad range of sectors, to include but not limited to, healthcare, commercial, residential, education, science and research, defense, infrastructure, hospitality and the ever-developing mission critical sector.

We are seeking security professionals at Senior or a Principal level to join our team in London or Manchester. The level of appointment will reflect your experience, technical capability, leadership responsibilities and commercial experience.

Why Work for Us?

  • Work alongside experienced security professionals and multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Engage in innovative projects both through the wider Hoare Lea business and directly with the security group.
  • Work on projects from concept and planning through construction, completion and handover.
  • Develop your career within a structured and supportive consultancy environment.
  • Help develop and shape the continued growth of Hoare Lea’s security offering.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
