Job Summary

The Senior Oracle Cloud Architect will ensure production uptime and service levels are maintained and available in accordance with business requirements, including backup, recovery, refresh, performance tuning, and security. The successful candidate must have experience executing Oracle Cloud upgrade cycles and will be responsible for supporting and maintaining Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Oracle Cloud ERP environments, and related applications.

Location: Role can be performed remotely from a ZOLL location in Europe, ideally Germany, the United Kingdom, or the Netherlands.

Essential Functions

Oracle Cloud Platform & Infrastructure

  • Manage and maintain the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) platform, including ongoing integrations and configurations to ensure a stable and healthy cloud environment.
  • Maintain Oracle standard architecture and best practices throughout the cloud environment.
  • Ensure database resources are appropriately sized and develop strategies to maintain optimal platform performance.
  • Ensure the availability and performance of multiple database and application environments supporting large volumes of data.
  • Support physical infrastructure components including storage, security, networking, and related technical areas.
  • Plan and respond to service outages, including backup and recovery activities.
  • Monitor system performance and diagnose software and hardware issues through resolution.
  • Execute periodic health checks across databases and systems and recommend improvements to support optimal performance.

Database Administration & Support

  • Perform routine DBA activities including database maintenance, backups, recovery, tablespace management, upgrades, and performance monitoring.
  • Execute cloning activities within SaaS and OCI environments.
  • Perform database configuration, monitoring, and tuning.
  • Carry out routine maintenance activities including defect analysis and resolution, storage management, object management, physical database layout, rollback segment management, and temporary space management.
  • Support log and alert monitoring, access rights, roles, database instance version control, authorizations, audits, account status management, and revocations.
  • Monitor memory usage, database parameters, resource utilization, and I/O distribution.
  • Ensure system health, maintenance, technical security, recovery, and application performance tuning.

Oracle ERP & Application Support

  • Support application-related issues including queries, users, embedded SQL, workflows, and concurrent requests.
  • Support Oracle Cloud developers with custom coding, code migration, workflows, and concurrent processing.
  • Maintain Oracle quarterly release schedules and patch management activities.
  • Support systems development, migration, and integration initiatives as required.

Security & Governance

  • Create and test data backups and support recovery activities.
  • Verify data integrity and implement access controls.
  • Provide patch management and distribution capabilities to protect against new threats while minimizing infrastructure impact.
  • Contribute to security analysis activities and provide recommendations for improvement.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with Infrastructure, Security, and IT teams on environment setup, maintenance, and support activities.
  • Work with multiple application teams and developers.
  • Provide day-to-day status updates and maintenance support for Oracle Cloud environments.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members located across multiple geographies and time zones.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and 5+ years of experience as an Oracle Cloud Engineer managing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) platforms.
  • Experience executing Oracle Cloud upgrade cycles.
  • Experience reducing cutover downtime through process improvements during upgrade cycles.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle Cloud OCI architecture, concurrent managers, workflows, and application infrastructure.
  • Excellent knowledge of cloning, patching, backup and recovery of ERP applications.
  • Experience with ODI, FAW/ADW, performance tuning, and SQL profiling.
  • Hands-on experience with backup management and recovery techniques.
  • Experience designing and implementing disaster recovery plans.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Cloud ERP system administration.
  • Unix shell scripting experience with Oracle ODA and OVM environments.
  • Strong ability to work across multiple teams, geographies, and time zones.
