Senior Software Engineer – Oracle / PL/SQL
London – 50% Hybrid (2 days one week / 3 days the next)
I’m recruiting for a Senior Software Engineer to join Royal London within their Group Technology & Change function.
This is a hands-on senior engineering role for someone with strong Oracle and PL/SQL development experience, working on the design, development and delivery of complex software solutions.
You’ll work across the full software development lifecycle and have plenty of autonomy, while being part of a collaborative engineering team.

- Designing and developing complex solutions within Oracle / PL/SQL
- Producing technical designs ahead of development
- Assessing the impact of changes to existing applications
- Developing high-quality, maintainable code
- Working closely with testing teams to identify issues early
- Supporting solutions through to production
- Reviewing code and contributing to development standards and best practice
- Sharing knowledge and helping improve engineering practices across the team
What we’re looking for:
- Strong commercial Oracle / PL/SQL development experience
- Experience working across the full software development lifecycle
- Strong SQL and database development knowledge
- Comfortable taking ownership and working independently at Senior Engineer level
- Experience working collaboratively with developers, testers and other technical teams
- Understanding of Agile software delivery
- Comfortable contributing to technical design and code reviews

This is a London-based role with a 50% hybrid working requirement, so you’ll need to be comfortable spending around half your working time in the office.
