Diablo Sugar Free

Diablo Sugar Free is Europe's largest no-added-sugar and sugar-free snacks brand. We started in 2010 with one stubborn idea, that sugar-free confectionery should taste good enough that nobody has to be told it is good for them. Sixteen years later, we run 117 SKUs across 11 categories and sell in 126 countries.

We need a senior designer who can do two things. Assist in setting brand direction as we shift to a more fun lively look, as well as designing the packaging all the way to a clean, press-ready file.

You will report to our Director of Strategy, work alongside other designers from day one, and manage people as the team grows. If you are the right person, grow into Design Team Leader with a team under you and sign-off in your hands.

Your work will sit on shelves in 126 countries. In our category the pack is the argument. Someone standing in front of a shelf deciding between the sugar-free option and the one they were reaching for out of habit makes that decision in about three seconds, and the pack is what makes the case.

What You Will Do

  • Design packaging for new product launches across snacks, confectionery and syrups, from first concept through to print
  • Revamp and modernise existing packs, bringing legacy designs up to the current brand standard
  • Work across flow wraps, pouches, folding cartons, bottles and syrup labels, sleeves, multipacks, shelf-ready packaging and seasonal formats
  • Sit with NPD and R&D from the earliest stage, so design and pack format decisions are made together rather than in sequence
  • Develop the Diablo visual identity, its typography, colour, illustration and photography approach, and how it flexes across 11 categories without everything looking the same
  • Design for shelf standout and for the thumbnail on a marketplace listing, since both decide whether we sell
  • Create the guidelines and templates that keep the team on brand

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Artwork and Print

This is not a role where someone else does the design. You need to prepare and release files yourself.

  • Substantial knowledge of preparing artwork for different print processes. Flexo, rotogravure, offset litho and digital each need a different file
  • Working confidently from supplied die lines and converter specs, with correct bleed, safe areas and seal zones
  • Colour management. Spot Pantone versus process, ink limits and how colour behaves on metallised film versus board
  • Trapping, overprints, white ink layers and minimum line and type weights that will hold on press
  • Correct export and preflight to PDF/X, working to FOGRA and ISO 12647-2 for Europe
  • Laying out nutrition tables and ingredient lists correctly, reviewing supplier proofs, and holding revision control so we always know which file is live

What We Are Looking For

  • Five or more years in FMCG packaging design. This is essential. We are not able to consider designers without hands-on FMCG pack experience
  • A portfolio of packs that actually printed, not renders. We will ask you to walk us through one live job, including what nearly went wrong and how you caught it
  • Brand identity experience. You have built or meaningfully evolved a visual system, not only applied someone else's
  • Ambition to lead. You want to build and run a design team, and you can point to where you have already started
  • Serious attention to detail. A wrong file on a print run costs us five figures and there is no version two
  • Expert Adobe InDesign and Illustrator, strong Photoshop, and confident use of Acrobat for proofing and preflight
  • Strong English writing and speaking skills, and confidence dealing with suppliers directly
  • Reliable overlap with UK working hours

Nice to Have

  • European converter and print experience, flexible film and mono-material recyclable structures
  • Confectionery, snacking, syrups or wider food background
  • Esko, Studio Toolkit, PitStop or similar prepress tooling

Please apply with your CV and a link to your portfolio. we are open to candidates based in Ukraine, Georgia, Spain, Argentina, Mexico, South Africa and the United Kingdom.
