Job Description

Working as part of a cross-functional team, you lead RDQ activities to complete packaging design and packaging deployment for innovation/growth projects and productivity projects across multiple geographies with an emphasis on delivering the desired consumer experience.
How You Will Contribute
- Independently coordinate technical work for projects in line with RDQ, marketing, and manufacturing requirements.
- Effectively communicate status and risks.
- Coordinate projects to determine appropriate packaging specification information using sampling and supplier management and pilot-plant and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements.
- Develop activities such as packaging design and specifications, scale up, commissioning, etc.
- Plan for the effective use of resources including the use of external agencies and suppliers.
- Use your understanding of equipment design and manufacturing processes to ensure that packaging specifications are determined with excellence.
- Be accountable for stakeholder management and influencing decisions based on conclusions derived from the analysis and interpretation of results.
- Develop and leverage connections both internally and with the external technical community.
- Create intellectual property to drive competitive advantage.

- Experience and knowledge in:
- Packaging development and/or packaging deployment, ideally within fast-moving consumer goods or consumer packaging goods environment.
- Leading teams and influencing cross-functional teams.
- Planning and delivering multiple priorities.
- Proactively identifying complex technical or business problems and creating and implementing solutions.
- Influencing senior and cross-functional stakeholders verbally and in writing, including writing technical reports.
- Coaching and mentoring others.
- Championing for consumer needs.
- Technical curiosity and collaborative mindset.

Location
- Candidates can be based primarily in Bournville (UK) or Wrocław (Poland).
- Alternative locations as France and Germany may be possible.
What You Will Do
- Innovate & Develop: Lead the development of packaging for new products and optimize existing solutions for our chocolate, biscuits, and meals portfolios.
- Technical Expertise: Apply rigorous technical understanding of packaging materials, manufacturing processes, cost & supply chain considerations to ensure robust, scalable, and sustainable designs. Manage trials. Recommend materials and solutions that apply best to our business needs.
- Strategic Vision: Translate brand strategies and consumer insights into tangible packaging concepts.
- Collaboration: Work seamlessly within cross-functional teams, collaborating with marketing, supply chain, and production to bring innovative concepts from ideation to launch.
- Quality & Compliance: Ensure all packaging designs adhere to our high-quality standards, regulatory requirements, and our commitment to responsible and sustainable practices. Drive the packaging sustainability agenda and manage sustainability-focused packaging projects.
- Communication: Adapt communication to be impactful and influence senior and cross-functional stakeholders.
What You Will Bring
- A demonstrated track record of success in packaging development for a minimum of 5 years, ideally within fast-moving consumer goods or consumer packaging goods environment.
- A good understanding of various packaging materials, their properties, and conversion processes.
- Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring precision and excellence in all aspects of design and specification.
- A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to navigate complex challenges and drive projects forward.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively partner with diverse teams and stakeholders to influence strategic business decisions.
- Champion sustainable packaging strategies and identify and evaluate new packaging materials and technologies.
Travel Requirements
The candidate must have availability to occasional travel within MEU (depending on project requirements).
