Senior Packaging Technologist - 12 month fixed term contract
Trafford, Manchester
Hybrid Working - 3 days a week onsite
£50,000 - 60,000 per annum + benefits
Help shape the packaging behind some of Westmill’s best known brands.
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Packaging Technologist to provide specialist packaging expertise across Westmill and support projects spanning NPD, sustainability, cost reduction, quality improvement, and capital investment.
This is a hands-on role for someone who combines strong technical packaging knowledge with the ability to turn briefs into practical, commercially effective solutions.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading packaging input across NPD, Capex, and cost reduction projects, from brief through to plant and transit trials
- Managing packaging specifications, materials, supplier approvals, and technical issues to ensure packaging is fit for purpose and legally compliant
- Working across Marketing, Procurement, Technical, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Sustainability to deliver packaging improvements
- Keeping up to date with new materials, technologies, and legislation, identifying opportunities, and communicating their impact
- Supporting artwork approval, BOMs, costings, specifications, and packaging budget management

What We’re Looking For
- Strong Packaging Technology experience, including flexible film and corrugate packaging
- Good understanding of UK and EU food packaging legislation
- Proven ability to manage multiple technical projects and solve problems pragmatically
- Strong attention to detail, data analysis, and stakeholder management skills
- Confident building relationships with suppliers and teams across the business
- A full UK driving licence, with willingness to travel regularly to other business locations
People management experience would be useful but is not essential.
