Description: We are seeking a talented individual to join our Legal, Compliance and Public Affairs team at Marsh, supporting our Private Markets Investments business. This role will be based in our Belfast office. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
As a Senior Paralegal, Private Markets Investments, you will join a global business of investment professionals and work closely with Marsh Alternatives legal, tax, investment teams as well as other internal and external stakeholders, on a diverse range of private market transactions and operations.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking to develop their career within a leading investments and professional services firm.
We will count on you to:
- Assist the legal team in all aspects of a Private Markets transaction (primaries, co-investments, secondaries), including review and negotiation of transaction documentation (e.g. side letters), completion of subscription documents, support the preparation of internal reports and presentations to internal committees, closing and execution,
- Provide legal support and advice to investment teams on a range of corporate actions related to private market investments,
- Work closely with Mercer external legal counsel in relation to the above, where appropriate, to include managing timely delivery of projects and advice within agreed scope and budget,
- Support the wider Legal team with internal projects, maintenance of internal databases, and assist in other general legal matters.
What you need to have:
- Significant and highly transferable paralegal experience gained in an international law firm or in-house legal department (ideally of an asset or fund manager, in particular with previous knowledge of private markets funds and investments).
- Excellent organisational, drafting and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly PowerPoint.
- Strong commercial acumen with an ability to deliver clear and pragmatic solutions.
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment, proactively managing multiple deadlines and tasks.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage expectations well.
- Maintain up-to-date legal knowledge to ensure compliance with relevant policies and legislation.
- Ability to take initiative, proactivity and confidence to take ownership of matters and develop yourself.
- Strong collaborative approach, someone who actively supports colleagues and helps balance workload across the team.
- Enthusiasm for in-house legal work and a commitment to develop a long-term career in-house.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
