£55,000 - £65,000 | Hybrid Working | Chartered or Nearly Chartered
We’re hiring a Senior Paraplanner to become a key planning specialist at Citygate. This is for a career paraplanner who wants influence, ownership and a genuine say in how great advice is delivered.
If you're passionate about great financial planning, enjoy solving complex client problems, and want your expertise to have a genuine impact, we'd love to hear from you.
About the Role
This is not simply a report-writing role.
We're looking for an experienced and outstanding Senior Paraplanner who wants to play a key part in shaping financial planning outcomes for clients, developing standards across the business, and supporting the continued growth of Citygate Financial Planning.
You will work closely with our Director and advisers, acting as a trusted technical expert and sounding board. We want someone who is confident challenging assumptions, identifying planning opportunities, and taking ownership of complex cases from initial analysis through to recommendation.
This role is ideal for an experienced career paraplanner who is passionate about financial planning and wants to remain on the technical pathway. This role is designed for someone who wants to build a long-term career as a paraplanner rather than move into advice. We're looking for someone who wants to become an even better paraplanner, deepen their expertise, influence planning outcomes, and play a leading role in developing technical excellence across the business.
At Citygate, we care deeply about the why. Why clients are making decisions. Why recommendations are appropriate. Why financial planning can make a meaningful difference to people's lives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
