Role: Senior Parliamentary Liaison Advisor
Salary: £63,586.70 (gross) per annum inclusive of London Weighting, with a fixed sum allowance of £1,195.
Location: Head Office London and Westminster
Duration: 1 Year Fixed Term Contract and for the period only that Andy Burnham is Leader of the Labour Party and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. There is the potential for the contract to be extended.
The Labour Party is looking to recruit a Senior Parliamentary Liaison Advisor. The post-holder will be central to the effective engagement of MPs around government policy, working alongside the Parliamentary Labour Party (PLP) Office and government SpAd teams; ensuring MPs parliamentary engagement is closely aligned with the Leader’s political strategy and wider campaign plans, and provide political insight on parliamentary opinion, identifying emerging issues and pressure points early and advising on their management.

Responsibilities
- Central to the effective engagement of MPs around government policy.
- Work alongside the Parliamentary Labour Party (PLP) Office and government SpAd teams.
- Ensure MPs parliamentary engagement is closely aligned with the Leader’s political strategy and wider campaign plans.
- Provide political insight on parliamentary opinion.
- Identify emerging issues and pressure points early.
- Advise on their management.
Requirements
- Excellent knowledge of Parliament, parliamentary procedure and the role of MPs, Parliamentary Private Secretaries and wider political stakeholders.
- Understanding of how parliamentary risks, opportunities and political sentiment can affect Government decision-making.
- Experience of working directly with MPs, senior politicians, political advisers, parliamentary staff or other key political stakeholders.
- Experience of producing high-quality briefings and coordinating politically sensitive information.
