Interim Counsel – Payments & Financial Regulation (EMEA)
Location: London (hybrid)
Duration: ~4–6 months, starting September/October 2026

About the role
A global technology client is looking to engage an interim lawyer to join their Payments Legal team in EMEA for a period of approximately four to six months. The engagement has arisen due to a combination of an anticipated increase in workload and cover for a period of leave.
The Payments Legal team advises the business across a broad range of payments and related financial regulatory matters, including anti-money laundering (AML) and credit broking. This is a hands-on role supporting the team on a mix of contracting, product counsel, and financial regulatory advice.

What you'll be doing
- Advising on payments-related contracting matters across the EMEA business
- Providing product counsel support to cross-functional teams on new and existing payments features
- Advising on financial regulatory matters, including AML and credit broking requirements
- Working closely with an established in-house payments legal team on a mix of BAU and project-based work

What we're looking for
- Qualified lawyer (England & Wales or equivalent) with relevant experience in payments, financial services, or financial regulatory law
- Prior experience advising on AML, credit broking, or related financial regulation, ideally gained in-house or via secondment at a fintech, payments business, or financial institution
- Comfortable working across contracting, product, and regulatory advisory simultaneously
- Available for a September/October 2026 start, for an initial 4–6 month engagement
- Right to work in the UK
