About the Job

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Payroll Administrator with a strong payroll bureau background to join an established team in Reading. You will manage your own portfolio of customers and take responsibility for accurate end-to-end payroll delivery, while also providing day-to-day support to the wider team. Although this role does not have direct line management responsibility, you will act as a senior point of contact for colleagues, helping with queries and more complex payroll escalations.

Duties will include:

  • Taking ownership of end-to-end payroll processing for an allocated portfolio of customers
  • Processing PAYE, statutory payments, starters, leavers, pensions, deductions and attachment of earnings.
  • Completing RTI submissions and supporting year-end payroll requirements and statutory documentation.
  • Investigating and resolving payroll queries
  • Acting as a senior point of contact for colleagues when complex payroll queries or escalations arise.
  • Providing hands-on daily support to the payroll team, sharing knowledge and helping colleagues resolve issues.
  • Keeping up to date with payroll legislation and ensuring payrolls remain accurate and compliant.
  • Developing strong working relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting new customer implementations, including data validation and parallel payroll runs.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, accuracy and efficiency across the payroll function.

About the Successful Applicant

You will be an experienced payroll professional with a strong background in payroll bureau and end-to-end payroll processing. As a senior member of the team, you will be confident supporting colleagues with day-to-day queries, resolving more complex payroll issues and handling escalations. You will have good knowledge of PAYE, RTI, statutory payments and pensions, along with strong attention to detail and a supportive, approachable manner.
