JGA Recruitment Group is working with an industry-leading specialist business to recruit a Senior Payroll Administrator into its Finance Shared Services function.
This is a hands-on payroll position responsible for processing monthly payrolls across multiple companies, with the opportunity to develop your experience across payroll, pensions, benefits, reporting, and payroll controls.
The Role
You will take ownership of end-to-end payroll processing for 500+ employees across multiple companies, working closely with HR and Finance to ensure payrolls are accurate, compliant, and delivered to deadline.
The role will also provide exposure to weekly payroll processing, giving you the opportunity to broaden your payroll knowledge across different pay frequencies and employee populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process monthly payrolls for 500+ employees across multiple companies.
- Manage starters, leavers, contractual changes, and timesheet-based payments.
- Process overtime, subsistence, sick pay, and statutory payments including SSP, SMP, and SPP.
- Administer court orders, deductions, company cars, and car allowances.
- Process shadow payrolls for overseas employees.
- Administer salary sacrifice and employee share scheme deductions.
- Manage pension administration, including auto-enrolment, AVCs, eligibility checks, and National Minimum Wage compliance.
- Complete pension uploads and maintain pension portals.
- Carry out payroll validation, reconciliation, and pre-payroll control checks.
- Produce and submit RTI information and issue P45s.
- Prepare monthly payroll journals and complete general ledger reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation.
- Act as a key point of contact for payroll queries and work closely with HR to resolve issues.
- Prepare supervisor bonus spreadsheets for management review.
- Learn and provide cover for weekly payroll processing for 200+ employees across three companies.

You'll ideally have:
- Previous end-to-end payroll processing experience.
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
- Experience with pensions and auto-enrolment.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Good Excel and payroll systems experience.
- The ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive, organized approach to your work.
