Senior Payroll & Benefits Manager
£67,000 to 75,000 | Kent/Medway | Hybrid | Permanent
We are recruiting a Senior Payroll & Benefits Manager for one of the South East's largest and most successful multi-academy trusts. This is a senior leadership role reporting to the People Director, taking full ownership of payroll for a large and growing organisation of almost 4,000 colleagues.
About the Role
This is first and foremost a payroll leadership role. We are looking for a strong, credible payroll manager to own accurate, compliant and on-time payroll, lead the payroll team, and be the trusted expert the organisation relies on.

What Matters Most
- A strong payroll management background in a large or complex organisation.
- Confidence with the detail: overpayments, tax, statutory pay and payroll compliance (PAYE, NI, RTI).
- Solid pensions knowledge, in particular the Teachers' Pension Scheme and LGPS.
- The seniority to lead a team and be the go-to expert across the organisation.
Nice to Have, or Grow Into
- Experience with iTrent is essential.
- Education sector experience and CIPP membership are a bonus rather than a must.
- Exposure to HR Systems development and projects is a distinct advantage.

The Package
- £67,000 to 75,000, plus Local Government Pension Scheme, Medicash, and Shared Cost AVCs.
- Permanent and full-time.
- Based in the Kent/Medway area, on site Monday and Tuesday, remote for the rest of the week.
