Senior Payroll Advisor

Paisley (Hybrid Working - 1 Day from Home)
Permanent | Full-Time

Brightwork are delighted to be partnering with a well-established and growing organisation to recruit a Senior Payroll Advisor. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to join a busy and collaborative team, supporting the accurate and timely delivery of payroll services across the business.

Working closely with the Payroll Manager, you will play a key role in the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring compliance with legislation, maintaining payroll system integrity, and providing excellent support to employees and stakeholders.

This role would suit someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has strong technical payroll knowledge, and enjoys identifying opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the end-to-end delivery of monthly payrolls, ensuring accurate processing of pay, overtime, deductions, and statutory payments.
  • Validate payroll data, timesheets, and approvals while maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC, PAYE, RTI, pension, GDPR, and other statutory requirements.
  • Support payroll audits, reporting, and year-end processes.
  • Assist with payroll system administration, troubleshooting, and process improvements.
  • Act as a key point of contact for payroll-related queries, providing support to employees and stakeholders.
  • Administer pensions, auto-enrolment, employee benefits, reimbursements, and statutory payments including SSP, SMP, and SPP.

About You

We are looking for an experienced payroll professional who can demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in a Payroll Advisor or Senior Payroll Advisor position.
  • A strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.
  • Experience processing end-to-end payrolls within a complex business environment.
  • Knowledge of payroll systems.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and general IT proficiency.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to explain payroll information clearly.
  • A professional and discreet approach when handling confidential information.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work to strict deadlines.
