About The Role
Hays Accounts and Finance is excited to support a globally recognized accounting firm in their search for a Senior Payroll Specialist. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic and innovative environment, supporting a large portfolio of clients with complex payroll requirements. Based primarily in their Manchester office with a requirement to work three days per week onsite, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring payroll processes are executed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with relevant regulations. This position is ideal for a seasoned payroll professional who is eager to contribute to a company that is investing heavily in technology, automation, and service excellence. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in UK payroll processing, preferably within a large bureau, accountancy firm, or shared service environment.
- Proven expertise in managing end-to-end payroll processes, including data input, calculations, and reporting.
- Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, RTI, pensions, and statutory deductions.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to support clients and stakeholders effectively.
- Experience working with payroll software and automation tools.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of the Senior Payroll Specialist include:
- Acting as the senior point of contact within the payroll team, providing guidance and support to junior staff.
- Processing complex UK payrolls accurately and efficiently for a diverse client portfolio.
- Ensuring payroll deadlines are met and maintained consistently.
- Supporting clients with payroll-related queries, providing expert advice and solutions.
- Collaborating with stakeholders, vendors, and external partners to optimize payroll operations.
- Maintaining compliance with all relevant legislation and internal policies.
- Supporting automation initiatives and technological improvements within the payroll function.
- Preparing reports and documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
