Senior P&C Reserving Actuary - London

Salary: up to £120,000

A leading international insurance and reinsurance organisation is looking to appoint a Senior P&C Reserving Actuary to join its UK actuarial team in London. This is a broad, high-profile role offering significant exposure across a diverse P&C portfolio, with responsibility for approximately £3.5bn of reserves across 12 legal entities.

The successful candidate will play a key role in quarterly reserving, financial and regulatory reporting, business partnering, and actuarial transformation.

The Role

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality reserving analysis across multiple lines of business, while working closely with Underwriting, Claims, Finance, Risk, and Pricing.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering quarterly technical reserving analysis across multiple P&C lines.
  • Providing actuarial insight into reserve movements, trends, and emerging claims experience.
  • Working directly with Underwriters to challenge assumptions and communicate actuarial judgement and recommendations.
  • Supporting UK and European legal entities across UK GAAP, French GAAP, Solvency II, and Solvency UK reporting.
  • Contributing to annual portfolio reviews and actuarial reporting.
  • Supporting regulatory, audit, and governance requirements, including responding to auditor queries and supporting audit defence.
  • Supporting a significant actuarial transformation programme and identifying opportunities for automation and process improvement.
  • Working closely with international actuarial, claims, underwriting, finance, and risk teams.
  • Mentoring and supporting more junior members of the actuarial team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
