Senior PCB CAD Designer
From thumbnail-sized cellular modules to large evaluation boards, every chip we design needs a board that does it justice. We are looking for a senior PCB CAD Designer who loves the craft of layout, dense multilayer stack-ups, RF up to 8 GHz, clean power and fast digital routing, and wants to own the full journey from concept schematic to manufactured board.
The Role
As our go-to expert for PCB CAD and Altium, you will lead board design for the Hardware Platform team and look after our Altium Workspace libraries. You will work side by side with hardware, RF and simulation engineers, influence design choices early, and see your boards through to manufacturing. It is a hands-on, high-ownership role where your expertise directly shapes the quality of our products.
What You Will Do
Design
- Own PCB CAD design for characterisation and evaluation boards: schematic capture, concept placement and layout, from specification to release
- Tackle demanding designs: multilayer modules and boards with RF, EMC, high-speed digital, power supply and thermal constraints
- Act as the technical reference for PCB technologies, host board and module design rules, and advise engineers on the best trade-offs
- Review requirements with hardware engineers and work closely with simulation engineers
- Design the mechanical side too: 3D models, stencils, module holders, metal plates, shields and heatsinks

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Libraries & Documentation
- Be our Altium Workspace librarian: create components and keep the library clean, consistent and reliable
- Manage design data: BOMs, documentation, Gerber release and CAM comparison
Manufacturing & Planning
- Partner with manufacturers and our Operations team on quotations, assembly, socket clearances and schedules
- Anticipate component availability and flag supply risks early
- Plan your own work: estimate effort, align with engineering schedules and, when workload peaks, coordinate external PCB CAD support
What You Bring
- 10+ years of PCB CAD design experience with Altium, covering both schematics and layout
- HND or engineering degree in Electronics
- Deep PCB technology knowledge: via types, dielectrics, copper thickness, stack-ups, multilayer builds, and current manufacturing processes, limits and costs
- Solid routing expertise for RF (ideally telecom, up to 8 GHz), power supplies, clocks and data lines – crosstalk, length matching, impedance control, stubs, RF leakage and shielding
- Awareness of physical hazards: thermal dissipation, warping, delamination, assembly rotation, mechanical clearance, shield design and mounting
- A proactive, autonomous way of working: you manage your schedule, raise risks early and take ownership of results
- Clear communication and the ability to present your work to colleagues at all levels in an international team
