The role
This is a critical leadership role within the People Planning & Transformation team, partnering with senior business leaders, People Directors and other Centres of Expertise to shape and deliver strategic people transformation activity across BGIUK.
You’ll lead complex, high-profile and often business-critical people programmes, ensuring that organisation design, workforce transition, consultation and implementation activities are delivered effectively, safely and in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
A key focus of the role is to act as the People Workstream Lead for large-scale people transformations, mergers and acquisitions, integrations, divestments, outsourcing, insourcing and workforce restructuring programmes.
You’ll provide expert leadership across the full programme lifecycle from strategic shaping and due diligence through to implementation, stabilisation and benefits realisation.
You’ll ensure people implications are considered in strategic decision making, translating business strategy and target operating model requirements into practical organisational solutions that enable business performance, growth and long-term workforce sustainability.
With your significant commercial acumen, analytical capability and employment law expertise, you’ll be enabled to assess complex business scenarios, evaluate organisational risks and opportunities, and provide robust recommendations to senior stakeholders and executive leadership teams.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
