Summary of Role:

Reporting to the Group Head of People & Culture, the Senior HR Advisor is responsible for encouraging a value-add HR offering through providing expert HR guidance and support to managers and colleagues. The Senior HR Advisor handles matters sensitively, with empathy and confidentiality, mediating conflicts and resolving grievances with a diplomatic, commercial approach.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Direct line management for the HR Coordinator and HR Administrator including objective setting and measurement, performance management, and ensuring both transactional and proactive activities are achieved.
  • Own and lead on well-being activities and taking the initiative to benchmark, analyse, and determine the most appropriate actions to ensure the physical and mental health of all employees.
  • Supporting the Group Head of P&C in devising and delivering HR and people-management workshops to upskill line managers across the Group.
  • Lead on complex Employee Relations matters which may include restructuring, without prejudice discussions, and grievances, across the Group to assess risk and encourage a considered approach to conclusion.
  • Role model the company values and behaviours to lead and inspire colleagues around the business.
  • Supporting tribunal matters including Early Conciliation, tribunal bundle preparation, and ET3 and COT3 completion.
  • Supporting the delivery of implementing and onboarding a HRIS including build, testing, and launch.
  • Division and regular review of policies and procedures in accordance with case law, statutory, legislative provisions, and amendments.
  • Supporting the Group Head of People & Culture on the strategy for engagement including employee surveys, engagement initiatives, and workplace culture-related activities.
  • Champion a culture of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion including regular activities, monitoring, addressing concerns, and raising awareness.
  • Confidently challenging managers at all levels to ensure employees are appropriately recognised, involved, developed, and supported.
  • Having personal accountability for the successful achievement of HR KPIs.
  • Support with any restructuring or reorganisational activities across the Group.
  • Working closely with the Talent Acquisition Lead to address recruitment and retention challenges in assigned business areas.
  • Support the implementation of performance management processes, including goal setting, performance appraisals, and performance improvement plans.
  • Implement initiatives to foster a positive work environment, improve employee engagement, and enhance workplace relations.
  • Overseeing monthly payroll cycles.
  • Driving continuous improvement.
  • Deputizing in the absence of the Group Head of People & Culture.

Essentials Experience, Skills and Abilities:

  • CIPD level 5 minimum.
  • Extensive experience at HR Advisor level in a fast-paced organisation, ideally an SME.
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel including V-Look Ups, pivot tables, and presenting data graphically.
  • Extensive, current, and working knowledge of employment law.
  • Natural ability to build rapport and trust with all stakeholders.
  • Previous experience of implementing a HRIS is preferable.
  • Ability to influence and lead on best practice.
  • Confident, friendly, and assertive.
