The Role

As a key member of the Global People Operations team, the UK People Operations Coordinator provides end-to-end operational HR support across a diverse UK portfolio. The role has primary employee-lifecycle ownership for Strategy & Communications, People Advisory and Corporate Functions, and coordinates onboarding and offboarding activities for Financial Advisory and Management Consulting. As a first point of contact for employees and managers, the role holder manages a broad range of enquiries, transactions and cases, applying sound judgement, resilience and a strong service mindset.

The successful candidate will be a proactive self-starter with HR generalist experience who can build effective stakeholder relationships, manage competing priorities and identify opportunities to simplify and improve how services are delivered.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the employee lifecycle for Strategy & Communications, People Advisory and Corporate Functions, including onboarding, probation, family leave, absence and wellbeing cases, Visa and immigration, job and contractual changes, internal transfers and offboarding.
  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding for Financial Advisory and Management Consulting, ensuring candidates, employees, managers and relevant internal teams understand responsibilities, deadlines and next steps.
  • Manage business-specific onboarding and offboarding requirements, including different contractual and compensation terms, templates, approvals and downstream actions, while identifying opportunities to align and simplify processes.
  • Act as a first point of contact for employees and managers, independently resolving a broad range of routine and moderately complex people-related queries. Promote and educate stakeholders on available self-service tools, resources and processes, while providing additional guidance and support where required. Exercise sound judgement in identifying and appropriately escalating sensitive, high-risk or specialist matters to the relevant People Team colleagues.
  • Manage employment changes such as promotions, salary and allowance changes, flexible working arrangements, changes to hours or location, and internal and international transfers, ensuring documentation, approvals and Workday records are complete and accurate.
  • Prepare contractor agreements and coordinate contractor onboarding and offboarding in Workday. Conduct appropriate checks to support the correct engagement and classification of contingent workers, guide managers through the completion of CEST assessments where required.
  • Provide support, both to employees and the wider People Team, during cyclical process such as Goal Setting, and Performance, Promotion and Compensation reviews. Such support varies by process but may involve leading training sessions for employees, providing Workday assistance, or tracking completion rates.
  • Monitor case queues, lifecycle trackers and deadlines, proactively managing workload, identifying risks and providing clear updates to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Payroll, Reward, HRIS, Recruitment, IT and other internal teams to ensure accurate and timely delivery of employee-lifecycle processes. Route benefits queries to the Reward team and provide operational support where agreed.
  • Serve as a front-end subject matter expert for Workday and a confident back-end user, providing practical guidance, resolving issues, completing transactions and maintaining high standards of data quality.
  • Anticipate reporting needs and work with HRIS and other stakeholders to improve reporting, data quality and management information.
  • Build effective cover arrangements and share knowledge across the UK People Operations team to strengthen resilience during peak periods and absences.
  • Handle personal and confidential information with integrity, discretion and appropriate data-protection controls.
  • Proactively contribute to the continuous improvement of HR policies, processes and related documentation/guides to enhance People Operations services and the employee experience.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
