Pay Rate: £26.06 per hour

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior People Partner to join a busy People Team on a 6-month placement based in Coventry, working on a hybrid basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR/People professional with strong employee relations and investigation experience to lead a specialist casework team and ensure formal disciplinary, grievance, and dignity at work investigations are managed effectively, fairly, and in line with policy and best practice.
The Role
Reporting to the Deputy Chief People Officer for Operational Services, you will lead and manage the People Team Investigation Casework Team, overseeing the allocation and progression of formal investigations across all staff groups. You will be responsible for ensuring investigations are conducted impartially, objectively, and confidentially, while maintaining high standards of quality and ensuring cases progress within agreed KPIs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the People Team Investigation Casework Team, allocating disciplinary, grievance, and dignity at work investigations appropriately and efficiently.
- Monitor casework activity and ensure the team meets agreed key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Establish and maintain effective systems for monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on casework performance and outcomes.
- Review decisions to commence formal cases, ensuring they are appropriate, proportionate, and consistent with relevant policies and procedures.
- Assess the risk level associated with cases and ensure appropriate action is taken.
- Ensure investigations are conducted fairly, impartially, and objectively, with all participants given appropriate opportunity to contribute.
- Quality assure completed investigation reports before submission to the commissioner of the investigation, ensuring findings are balanced, evidence-based, and proportionate.
- Attend formal hearings and present investigation findings to disciplinary panels where required.
- Monitor team capacity and demand, proactively managing workflow and case allocation.
- Work collaboratively with the People Partner Team to review and update HR investigation toolkits, ensuring they reflect best practice and remain legally and procedurally compliant.
- Develop, oversee, and maintain a casework tracker to identify trends, risks, and areas of concern, escalating issues appropriately to senior People colleagues.
- Produce reports for committees and other relevant forums regarding casework progress and performance.
- Facilitate data collection and responses to Freedom of Information (FOI) requests relating to casework.

We are looking for a confident and experienced People/HR professional who can demonstrate:
- Significant experience managing complex employee relations casework and formal investigations.
- Strong knowledge of disciplinary, grievance, and dignity at work procedures.
- Experience leading, managing, or quality assuring investigation casework.
- The ability to assess risk and make sound, proportionate decisions.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with experience monitoring KPIs and casework performance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce and quality assure detailed investigation reports.
- Experience working collaboratively with senior stakeholders and advising on sensitive and complex employee relations matters.
- A strong understanding of confidentiality, procedural fairness, and employment legislation.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and workload within a fast-paced People/HR environment.
