What we do. Electric Car Leasing
Why we do it. Greener. Fairer. Future.
Over the last two years, consumer growth at Octopus Electric Vehicles has accelerated fast. Weâve grown our B2C activity significantly, and weâre now looking for a brilliant Performance Marketing Manager to take day-to-day ownership of our digital performance engine - and help us build the next version of it.
This is a hands-on, technically strong role for someone who loves being close to the detail: building and optimising campaigns, digging into search query reports, spotting wasted spend, improving audiences, testing creative and turning performance data into clear decisions.
Paid search is currently our most established performance channel, running across Google Ads and Microsoft Ads. One of your first big opportunities will be to lead our move into SA360, helping us set up the right campaign structures, tracking, processes and ways of working as we scale.
Youâll also play a key role in developing the rest of our paid media mix. We currently run Demand Gen activity and a small amount of Meta, but thereâs much more we want to do across programmatic display and paid social. Weâre looking for someone with the technical expertise to help us work out what good looks like, build it properly and turn those channels into meaningful drivers of growth.
Youâll sit in the B2C Growth squad, reporting into the Senior Growth Marketing Manager, and work closely with our Content Creator, Design team, Commercial team and wider Marketing team. We move quickly, test a lot and have ambitious targets, so youâll have plenty of ownership - but youâll also be part of a close-knit, collaborative squad that likes working together and doesnât take itself too seriously.
Paid media is at the heart of this role, but youâll also own key parts of the user journey, including writing, building and launching campaign landing pages using our web tools. We want someone who thinks beyond the ad platform and is interested in how the whole journey performs, from first click through to lead, quote and ultimately order.
This would suit someone with strong hands-on paid media experience, ideally from an agency, media or technically strong in-house environment, who is excited by the opportunity to build as well as optimise. Youâll get to stay close to the platforms while having real influence over our channel strategy, technology and wider growth journey.
What You'll Do
- đ Own our paid search engine: Take day-to-day ownership of Google and Microsoft paid search, from campaign structure and search query analysis through to bids, budgets, testing and optimisation.
- đ Lead our move into SA360: Help take us from our current Google Ads and Microsoft Ads setup into SA360, shaping the migration approach and putting in place clean structures, tracking, naming conventions and ways of working that will scale.
- đ„ïž Build out our programmatic capability: Help us evolve beyond our current Demand Gen activity and develop a stronger display strategy, using your experience of DV360 and Campaign Manager 360 to determine how we should structure, activate, measure and optimise programmatic campaigns.
- đ± Grow paid social: Take our existing Meta activity and work out where paid social can play a bigger role in our growth mix, testing new audiences, creative, campaign approaches and platforms where thereâs a strong commercial case.
- đ Get properly stuck into the detail: Dive into search queries, audiences, campaign structures, bids, budgets and performance to understand whatâs working, whatâs wasting spend and where the next opportunity is.
- đ Spend smartly: Manage digital spend within agreed monthly targets, keep a close eye on pacing and performance and make clear recommendations on where to push, pause or test next.
- đ§Ș Test, learn, repeat: Partner with our Content Creator and Design team to test new creative hooks, formats, audiences, messaging and landing-page experiences across our paid channels.
- đ Make reporting actually useful: Turn channel data into clear, practical insight. We donât just want to know what happened - we want you to help us understand why, what it means commercially and what we should do next.
- đ Own landing page launches & web optimisations: Take end-to-end ownership when campaigns need new landing pages, quizzes or other web experiences, from drafting copy with support from the team through to building, tracking and launching them using our CMS/web tools.
- đ Think beyond platform metrics: Look at performance through the full funnel, helping us understand which activity is generating valuable customers and where we can improve conversion from click through to order.
- đ€ Make things happen: Coordinate briefs, assets, links, tracking and launches across content, design, web and the wider marketing team so campaigns get live quickly and with as little faff as possible. Youâll also be happy jumping into wider growth priorities when the team needs it.

Iâm in my final year doing Economics and I donât know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer â it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) donât need a masters. Letâs look at the ones youâd be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet â that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What You'll Need
- Strong hands-on performance marketing experience, ideally gained within an agency, media or technically strong in-house environment. Weâre open on exact years of experience - what matters most is the depth of your technical skills and your ability to operate independently.
- Excellent paid search expertise. You should be confident personally building, managing and optimising meaningful paid search activity across Google Ads and ideally Microsoft Ads, including campaign structure, search query analysis, bidding, budget pacing and performance reporting.
- Strong SA360 knowledge and hands-on experience. Weâre not already operating in SA360, so we need someone who understands the platform well enough to help us migrate into it and establish good ways of working from the outset.
- Hands-on DV360 and Campaign Manager 360 experience. Youâll bring experience of how programmatic activity should be set up, activated, tracked and optimised and be comfortable helping us build this capability rather than simply inheriting an established programme.
- Paid social experience, ideally within Meta Ads Manager. We donât currently have a huge paid social programme, so weâre looking for someone who can see the opportunity, test intelligently and help us work out where it should sit within the wider media mix.
- Strong tracking and measurement fundamentals. You understand why conversion tracking, UTMs, audiences, naming conventions and clean campaign structures matter - and youâre comfortable troubleshooting when something doesnât look right.
- A builder's mindset. Youâll inherit plenty to optimise, but some of the biggest opportunities in this role are things we havenât fully built yet. Youâll enjoy taking something from âwe should probably be doing this betterâ to a clear approach that actually works.
- A proper performance mindset. You enjoy digging into the numbers, finding wasted spend, spotting opportunities and working out what we should do next. You care about commercial outcomes, not just making platform metrics look good.
- Confidence and ownership. Youâll be comfortable being the subject-matter expert in the room, forming a point of view and making recommendations - while also being happy to challenge and be challenged.
- A roll-your-sleeves-up attitude. This is an individual contributor role and we want someone who genuinely enjoys being hands-on. We move quickly, things change and thereâs always something new to figure out.
- High standards, low ego. Weâre ambitious and performance-focused, but very collaborative. Youâll care deeply about doing brilliant work while being open to feedback, happy to change your mind and keen to help the wider squad succeed.
- Someone who makes the team better. Youâll be proactive, positive, commercially minded and kind. Youâll enjoy working at pace, sharing ideas, solving problems together and the odd âthis isnât technically my job, but I can helpâ moment. We take the work seriously, but not ourselves.
