About The Role
Hunter Selection is currently recruiting for a Senior PHP Developer with extensive Symfony experience to join a dynamic and innovative UK-based software agency. This role offers the flexibility of fully remote work, allowing candidates to operate from anywhere within the UK. The successful applicant will be instrumental in developing and maintaining a SaaS platform, working on long-term projects that are critical to the agency’s clients. You will be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing scalable web applications, APIs, and backend systems using PHP, Symfony, and related technologies.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in PHP and Symfony development, with proven experience in full lifecycle software development. You should have a solid understanding of SOLID design principles, object-oriented programming, and best practices in coding. Experience working within cloud environments, particularly AWS, is essential. Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, as well as API development using GraphQL and REST, is highly desirable. Candidates should also have experience with relational databases like MySQL and PostgreSQL, and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines to support automated testing and deployment processes.
Additional skills that are advantageous include experience with Node.js, TypeScript, Docker, Kubernetes, and PHP unit testing. A proactive attitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently are key attributes for success in this role. Candidates must have the right to live and work in the UK, as applications from outside the UK will not be considered.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a SaaS platform utilizing PHP, Symfony, React, MySQL, and related technologies within an AWS environment.
- Responsible for designing scalable and efficient backend systems, building and optimizing APIs (both GraphQL and REST), and ensuring the overall stability and security of the platform.
- Participate in the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, and implement best practices for code quality and performance.
- Involved in code reviews, writing unit tests, and maintaining documentation to support ongoing development efforts.
- Continuous learning to stay updated on emerging technologies and industry standards, ensuring the platform remains innovative and competitive.
