About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior PHP Developer to join our client's dynamic engineering team based in Hertfordshire, with a hybrid working model requiring two days onsite. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on large-scale web applications, contribute to the enhancement of existing platforms, and play a vital role in the development of business-critical systems. Qualifications
- Strong background in PHP development with extensive hands-on experience working without reliance on frameworks.
- Solid understanding of relational databases such as MySQL or MariaDB.
- Proficiency in web technologies including HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
- Experience working within Linux-based development environments, demonstrating familiarity with server management and command-line operations.

Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance PHP-based web applications to meet business needs and technical standards.
- Write clean, secure, and scalable code following best practices and coding standards.
- Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and overall application performance.
- Build new features and improve existing functionality across the platform.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and quality assurance activities to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, provide technical insights, and deliver effective solutions.
- Troubleshoot, investigate, and resolve application and production issues efficiently.
- Produce comprehensive technical documentation and contribute to architectural decisions and system design.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including refactoring, process automation, and technological upgrades.
- Work collaboratively with developers, QA teams, and support functions to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
