Senior PHP Developer / Technical Lead – Fully Remote (UK-Wide)

A leading company in the insurance sector is looking for an experienced Senior PHP Developer / Technical Lead to join its growing development team. This is a fully remote UK role for someone who is still hands-on technically, but who can also help drive the team forward, contribute to technical direction and confidently represent the business on technical calls with clients and partners.

Key Details

  • Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum
  • Location: Fully Remote – UK-wide
  • Experience: 5+ years working within enterprise-level environments
  • Core Stack: PHP, Laravel, AWS, JavaScript, Vue.js / React
  • Architecture: Domain Driven Design (DDD), CQRS
  • Data: Experience working with large-scale / Big Data systems
  • Persistence / ORM: Doctrine experience highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain scalable, enterprise-level PHP applications.
  • Help drive the development team forward technically, contributing ideas and technical direction rather than simply delivering assigned tickets.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to support the management and delivery of development projects.
  • Produce clear technical specifications for new features and solutions.
  • Represent the business on technical calls with clients, partners and other stakeholders.
  • Report into the Head of Engineering, taking feedback and contributing to wider engineering decisions.
  • Apply architectural principles including Domain Driven Design (DDD) and CQRS.
  • Work with large-scale data systems and complex application environments.
  • Design and implement cloud-based solutions using AWS.
  • Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices.
  • Balance delivery of client-driven work with ongoing maintenance, technical debt and keeping systems up to date.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
