About the Role

This role is to be initially based on our Union Park project in Hayes. As principal contractor we are constructing 18 Data Halls of approximately 1250m2 each, to be deployed at approximately 24MW of total usable IT power. Part of the development included the construction of an adjacent High Voltage Electrical Compound. This was linked to a Medium Voltage Energy Centre with dual backup power generation. The building mass consists of a series of staggered blocks, surrounded by an internal one-way circulation system with both soft and hard landscaping.

The MV Energy Centres are located either side of North Hyde Gardens are smaller in scale providing a stepping down appearance towards the Grand Union Canal. The HV Energy Centre is located to the east of the MV Energy Centre to the side of North Hyde Gardens. A single storey Visitor Reception Centre enabling security protocols for visitors and employees is located near North Hyde Gardens.

Responsibilities

The Senior Planner leads planning support across complex projects, tenders and live construction delivery.

The role is responsible for:

  • Developing robust programmes
  • Advising project and senior management teams on programme strategy
  • Managing planning risks
  • Supporting consistent planning standards across the business

Experience Required

  • Significant experience in construction planning across a range of project types
  • Proven experience developing, managing and reviewing construction programmes
  • Strong understanding of construction methodology, sequencing, logistics and programme risk
  • Experience supporting tender, contract and post-contract planning activities
  • Understanding of contract documentation, delay analysis and programme records
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant planning software and reporting tools
  • Experience supporting or mentoring planning staff desirable

Qualifications

  • Degree, HNC or equivalent qualification in construction management, project controls, engineering or a related discipline
  • Professional membership of a relevant body desirable, such as CIOB, RICS or APM
  • Training in ASTA Powerproject, Primavera P6, MS Project or equivalent planning software

Key Responsibilities

Planning Strategy & Programme Development

  • Lead the development of robust programmes for tender, contract and post-contract stages
  • Prepare programmes, methodology statements and sequencing strategies in line with contract requirements
  • Advise project teams on construction methodology, sequencing and programme strategy

Programme Controls & Reporting

  • Produce, review and maintain project programmes, short-term programmes and progress reports
  • Monitor progress against contract programmes and identify delay, risk or recovery requirements
  • Ensure planning information is accurate, consistent and suitable for internal and external reporting

Risk, Delay & Commercial Support

  • Identify programme risks and support mitigation planning
  • Prepare programme evidence, progress records and as-built information to support extension of time or delay matters
  • Support project teams in protecting the Company’s commercial position through robust planning records

Tender & Pre-Construction Support

  • Support tender programmes, logistics plans, sequencing proposals and scaffold or temporary works schedules
  • Liaise with subcontractors and specialist contractors to obtain programme, lead-in and methodology information
  • Provide planning input into bid submissions and pre-construction planning

Planning Standards & Quality Assurance

  • Review reports and programmes issued by planners to maintain a consistent planning standard
  • Support common planning controls, naming conventions, filing protocols and programme governance
  • Identify opportunities to improve planning standards, tools and processes

People & Knowledge Sharing

  • Support the Managing Planner in developing planning capability across the function
  • Provide guidance to Planners and share planning knowledge with project teams
  • Support planning training and best practice across the business

Stakeholder & Client Management

  • Liaise with senior management, project management teams, clients, subcontractors and consultants
  • Communicate programme strategy, progress, risks and recovery actions clearly to relevant stakeholders
  • Attend internal and external reviews to discuss methodology, progress and programme performance

Success Measures

  • Quality and reliability of project programmes
  • Timely identification and management of programme risks
  • Quality of reporting, progress records and delay evidence
  • Consistency of planning standards across projects
  • Effectiveness of support provided to planning staff and project teams
  • Contribution to successful tender and live project outcomes

The duties listed are not exhaustive and may be varied from time to time as dictated by the changing needs of the Company. The post holder will be expected to undertake other duties as appropriate and as requested by his/her manager.

The post holder may be required to work at any of the locations at which the business of Sweet Projects is conducted.
